As good as any I reckon - 22 Nov 2007

I bought one of these about 14 months ago. I had some minor problems with it, like lines appearing on the screen that weren't usually there obscuring the display a little, buttons performing functions that they weren't supposed to occasionally, and the thing refused to be turned off sometimes. These usually happened when the battery was running low. Mine is not working properly at the moment, so I am trying to find a clever person to fix it. If it can't be fixed I will buy another, I like it that much.
Like other reviewers have said:
It isn't the prettiest/lightest/flashiest and it is quite big.
It does give great sound and the supplied earphones are quite OK for most people.
The carry case and charger are a bonus, but they should be standard kit when buying these devices.
Very important for me, it has a line-in so you can transfer vinyl to your ACER, converted to MP3 format, this can then transfer to your PC so that you can convert your entire record collection to digital format. It's a bit of a laborious process, but at least you can do it. Drag and drop either way through windows explorer is so straightforward. I haven't seen anything easier, that's another reason why I want mine fixed or I'll buy another.
I have looked at Creative Zen and would probably have bought one if it had a line-in!
I have bought a cheap ipod copy off ebay until I get my Acer fixed or source a new one.
It seems to me that none of these things lasts very long, so either buy a cheap one and throw it away when it's broken, or take out a warranty if you buy an expensive one. I am not brilliant with technology, and I am not a purist when it comes to music reproduction quality, but I know what's rubbish and what's acceptable in terms of quality and ease of use. I don't think you will find the perfect MP3 player, but if you just want music on the move, this is fine. I use mine fell-walking and it's great clipped onto my rucsack. It would be too big for jogging though.
I have given it 4 stars because I expect items costing £80 (which mine did from Comet) to last longer than 14 months, however, given what I've said above, you'd be hard pushed to find better if you want what I want from an MP3.
Quality & Reliability - 28 Jun 2007

I've had my Mp-330 for about a year now and it's been great. It's been in almost daily use and has been solidly reliable. The sound quality is excellent. The included earphones are a bit on the large side but give a superb sound. There are 5 or 6 EQ settings to choose from and sound excellent on all of them. Windows EP users won't have to load the included software. You just drag and drop and is a piece of cake to load and navigate. The only niggle I've got with it is, in playback, you can't stop the music and then go back later to where you left off. It will swich off and then you have to start again from the beginning.
Battery life is 12 hours which isn't great these days. There is a mains charger supplied (3 hours for a full charge) and it comes with a good quality leather case with belt clip.
I'm extremely pleased with the MP-330. So far it's given me a year of troule free use and has been a please to own and use.
ACER Mp-330 Hdd Mp3 Player 10Gb Uk - 28 Nov 2006

I have been looking for a decent mp3 for quite a while now but i also wanted one that was affordable on a students budget.I was considering one of the new ipod nanos as they seemed pretty good but they did cost a lot just for 2-4gb.I have quite a bit of music and as i am going away on holiday soon,an i didnt fancy taking all my cds with me.I came across this Acer mp3 and i must admit i have never herd of the make before but my fiance reasured me they were a good make as they have made lots of computers.I have to say that this mp3 is one of the best i have ever listend to.I didnt expect it to be so good an i must admit it does not look the most trendy of mp3 an is a little bigger then the moden day one that are out today. As there is no pick on amazon i recomend checking it out on google before you buy so you wont be disapointed.Still i think its not too bulky and i reckon around the size of a mobile and it can easily fit in your pocket. The down point though is that it does not have a colour screen like most moden mps but it just has a standard blue one with a decent back-light.Still it is very bright and can be easily read by anyone. The sound quality off it is amazing and if your like me and you like your music loud then this is the baby for you.It can seriously pump out those tunes loud. Not to mention the push-in-ear headphones that come with it.They are great and unlike some moden day mp3 headphones that come with the mp3, i dont think you will need to buy anymore to meet your needs. The Acer also has a little advantage over moden mp3's wich i find extreamly usefull, and that is that it comes with a normal plug-in recharger.most modern mp3s like the nano have a usb charger so you have to plug it into your computer to recharge it.not much use if your going on holiday, although you can pay £25 for an adapter.still who needs it when its free with the Acer! The Acer also comes with a black-leather little carry case to ensure it protects the silver case of the mp3.Also the Acer is not just a mp3.You can record yourself with the built in microphone and also as its 10Gb you can transfer data from one computer to the other with its built in 10gb hard-drive.Play back is up to about 24hours non stop and a week on standby.I would really recomend the Acer who dosnt just want a Ipod for the fashion icon issue but just wants a decent MP3 player.I love it and with it being 10gb thats a serious amount of songs you can fit on there.
