I love this MP3 player - it's absolutely fantastic! It holds my entire CD collection and there's still room. It's so simple to use - just plug it into the computer, click on the tunes you want in Windows media player 10 or above and away you go - no fuss and no hassle. The battery seems to last forever (I've had mine 18 months and only charged it about 3 times!)(plus it comes with the charger so you don't need to keep buying batteries) and it works really well with the Kensington FM transmitter to use in the car. I had a freak out within the first week of getting it - it jammed and completely froze. I phoned up the Gmini helpline and spoke to someone instantly - on a Sunday! Local call! - and was prepared to do some serious yelling. But they sorted it out in a matter of seconds: just hold down the off button for 15seconds. And I've never had any trouble with it since. It's durable and sounds great. I thoroughly recommend it.
Why buy the 202 when the 204 is out? - 06 Jun 2007

I'm surprised that people are still buying the 202 (and that Amazon is still selling it for such a high price). The Archos 204 has been out for a while now. It is the same size, has the same capacity, but features a colour screen, the ability to store and display pictures, the ability to browse tracks while listening to a song, has a much longer battery life of 20 hours, and it does not hang when you disconnect it from the PC. When I started looking for a really portable player with a large capacity, I had initially come across the 202 on Amazon, but, as I always like to do, I visited the manufacturers website first to see if any newer products were in the pipeline. You'd be surprised how many items are being sold by online stores, that have already been discontinued by the manufacturers, meaning no future support for the product! Anyway, the Archos website features the NEW 204, and had a special deal where you could order the 204, with a carrying case and travel charger for 199 euros! Now that's a bargain, and the 204 is absolutely superb! Great sound, extremely portable, long battery life, easy media transfer via WMP11, displays pictures and album art, easy user interface, and reasonably priced. Now that deserves 5 stars!!

I've only received this a couple of days ago. And so far I'm really impressed.
Really good value for the size of memory. Easy to use as Windows (XP) recognises it, so just a case of drag and drop. Mr. N. Brook mentioned how you can't browse through the folders whilst being played, but this isn't true. You have to press on button and a sub menu appears.
I've only given 4 stars as it's not as easy to use as something like a ipod, but you do get used to it.

When I first got the gmini it was great, it was easy to use and the battery lasted ages. However after about 6 months, problems starting happening. The gmini folder system would completely disappear from my computer when transferring music leading to an error popup and then harddrive would start making grinding noise. Not only that but the player would constantly crash and stick.

I bought this player 6 months ago and it was brilliant. It never crashed, it didn't break when I dropped it and it is so small for it's capacity.
There are two small downsides though. You can't browse songs and listen at the same time (this didn't bother me but it was pointed out by a friend comparing it to his IPod). And the supplied earphones are pretty bad (good replacements can be easily bought though).
Apart from those two this is a great mp3 player that does what it says on the box; plays mp3s. It is well worth 5 stars.
