Use rechargeables - 28 Mar 2008

Bought a red one for use with speech MP3 downloads, but I am entering my review here as this is where most reviews are.

Plus points: very cheap (purchased on offer at £7.50); starts where you left off when you switch on again (essential for speech); more robust than another make I tried; screen to tell you what you are listening to; simple to use.

Cons: The player will not work with batteries once their power drops below 2.25 volts.
The first battery lasted less than an hour. When the player gave up due to "low battery" the battery was still delivering around 2.25 volts.
I checked the next battery I put in was delivering full voltage. It lasted 4 hours 42. At that stage the battery indicator was still showing plenty of power left and the battery was delivering 2.25 volts. The used battery worked in my husband's MP3 player.
I then tried a fully charged rechargeable (which I would expect to last a shorter time than a disposable) and it lasted 4 hours 44.
I will be using the player with rechargeables.

Impressive little device - 27 Feb 2008

As I wanted to see if I'd use a MP3 player I thought I'd get something cheap and cheerful. I placed the order and then someone posted a review to say it had a virus...Oh dear. The player arrived; despite my fears and copious use of anti-virus software I found no evidence of the virus previously reported. After a glance at the manual my music was loaded and I was off on my daily run with Red Hot Chilli Peppers in my head.
The menus are staight forward, the display, sound levels and earphones are good. I've only just got it so I can't comment on battery life but as I have a draw full of re-chargeable AAA batteries it's not a concern of mine. 5 stars awarded for value for money. £7.49? Great bargain, Glad I got 2!!!!

Great value MP3 player - 26 Feb 2008

If anyone is considering this then buy it - excellent quality - good sound reproduction with bundled headphones.

Plenty of bass, good tone and very clear, volume goes high enough for me.

Comes complete with headphones & battery - ready to go out of the box.

Easy drag and drop your MP3's to the player using XP no need to load any software it just sees it as another drive.

Looks quite stylish - good visual display which covers all you need

For the money very very good, hard to beat at this price.Wish I had got 2 now !!

Comes with free virus! - 21 Feb 2008

Purchased for me by my wife, I unpacked it and plugged it in to my pc, my antivirus software immediately alerted me to the presence of a hidden file H:\tel.xls.exe containing the Infostealer.QQRob.A virus, designed to steal logins and passwords.
Amazon were informed, we received a standard email acknowledging receipt, then nothing.
They are still selling them, the virus comes free of charge. Draw your own conclusions.

Great little MP3 player - 08 Feb 2008

I bought this more than a year after the screen on my Aigo shattered (kids jumped on it). Between times I thought I'd try to buy players from a couple different supermarkets. The interim players were smaller in size but more expensive. I wish I'd gone for this one sooner!

It's nice to have the player pick up exactly where you left off. It has a "hold" key, which is great for conserving your battery when the player winds up the bottom of a bag.

I can't comment on the 'phones supplied as I have small ears and bought a great pair when I got my first player.

Word of caution on the colour...the blue seems more purple, but they're only £12 and you've got a range of choices!

If my kids break this one too, I'll definitely buy another without hesitation.
