Battery can easily be replaced in ATMT Storm - 31 Jan 2008

For all those that own this item and like me, have experienced that the battery life has considerably dropped, there is a cheap solution. You can easily replace the battery! I have found that a generic 1st/2nd generation 2200mAh Ipod battery fits. These can be picked up from around £3 on auction sites. As the original battery is only 1200mAh, the replacement should provide more listening time on each charge. I did purchase a 2300mah battery but found that this was too thick and so the case wouldn't properly fit back on. So I suggest getting a 2200mAh (probably a 1600mah would fit but you may as well get a 2200mah). Fitting is pretty easy:

1) Unscrew the two small screws at the bottom (don't lose them)
2) Remove the end bit of the case where the usb connection is - it may just fall off after you have unscrewed the two screws.
3) Slide the back metal cover down a little bit
4) Pull the back cover off
5) Unplug the battery and remove
6) Plug in the new battery (red wire goes at the bottom from what I remember). It is a little fiddly to get the new battery plugged in as the plug and socket are rather small.

7) Slide the back cover on
8) Replace the end bit of the case and tighten the 2 screws.
9) Recharge the new battery for say 24 hours to make sure it is fully charged
10) Continue to enjoy using your ATMT Storm

Note: you can just do steps 1,2,5 from above then just slide in the new battery and plug it in etc. This saves removing the back cover. However you may prefer to follow all the steps so you are not so restricted when trying to connect the new battery plug.

Was good - after 18 mths battery failed - 15 Jan 2008

I paid £100 quid for this product.Initially I loved it - loads of storage, good battery life rubbish headphones, but I had some decent Sony ones from a walkman radio, so was v. happy. Now, without excessive use, the battery has totally failed and wont hold a charge for more than half an hour. Was it worth it? Well, it does still work as a decent size portable storage unit, but I would have expected better life on the battery.

Nice & cheap - 22 Nov 2007

Not a bad little player. After 2 years it still works, Can't seem to find a replacement battery for it, but then again I've not tried hard. Partition errors seem to be a common occurence, looking at the comments - when I got mine, I simply opened up the player in Linux (Windows not wanting to recognise it), deleted the original partition, created a new Windows partion and then re-formatted it. No problems since.

Not as flashy as an Ipod, though...

ATMT.. to buy or not to buy? - 18 Oct 2007

thi is a wicked mp3 player iv had mine for about one and a half years actually probably more like 2 yrs. Its been great, i have listened to it every day for at least 2 hours (long bus journey!). Its easy to use and good as a storage device. BUT my player has now given up on life, the battery has gone so however much i charge it it won't switch on : ( now having to buy a new mp3 player, i wont get the same one beacause a it is big and a clunky and b because of this battery problem, apart from these two downers it is good! id say buy it but dont expect it to last for years and years (by the way most ipods dont last that long any way)

NO GOOD AS A MUSIC PLAYER - 02 Oct 2007

I have had this product now for a year and it is getting more and more on my nerves and after a short time enthusiasm, I am now below the downhill of disappointment and stress. It is unnervingly slow, the program coming with it doesn't see more than 200 songs so you cannot create playlists. The only good side of it is that it is a portable 20GB disk that you stick to any pc to copy any kind of files. But as an MP3 player is worth less than the fake ones they build in China. It doesn't read wma files. While you are listening it stops and goes back to you folder list god knows for what reason. If for any reason it cannot read a song, it doesn't tell you why nor what song. You find out only because you don't hear the music anymore. If you want a player for your music, DON'T buy this one. If you want a portable disk, you can get something same capacity but cheaper. After this experience, I won't buy any other ATMT product.
