5 Reviews for Creative Zen Sleek Photo 20GB MP3 Player
It started to freeze after about a year - 23 Mar 2008

My son wanted an IPOD for his 16th birthday, after a lot of research I bought a creative because it seemed to do alot more.
Unfortunately after about a year, the buttons stopped responding and it would not switch off. You had to wait for the battery to run down over 2-3 days and recharge it before it would consider working for a couple of days. I had bought it from Currys with a 5 year warranty which cost £99, so I sent it to be fixed. Currys subcontract repair to Microgenics who are a very rude set of people who did not fix it. Eventually I gave up.
For my son's 18th birthday I am going to buy a IPOD Classic not from Currys and not with a coverplan.
Fine when it works, but guaranteed to break - 05 Dec 2006

It appears Creative are phasing out this model, but I still feel I should leave a review as a warning against the company. As I had certain doubts about the default iPod, I did a lot of research into mp3 players, and read many good reports on Creative's models.
I acquired a Zen Micro, only to have it crash violently on me on every other usage. However, occasionally you will get a dodgy model, so I was happy enough to exchange it for a Zen Sleek. The Sleek worked fine for several months, and gets its three stars for being generally easy to navigate and of decent sound quality. However, I noticed the touchpad could be unreceptive, and it's gone downhill from there. Next to go were the buttons, which took turns not to work - sometimes volume was pretty much the only thing I could control. As a final revolt, the player deleted all its music, and when I tried to re-transfer my songs all I got were error messages.
I still have my reservations about the iPod, but I may just have to go with the crowd on this one. The Creative Vision looks good, but I'm convinced it will crash just like the others. I know three other people with Creative players and they've all gone haywire as well. I don't have the money for a new player every year and don't trust this brand to deliver.
Cant Be Faulted - 30 Sep 2006

I really cant say anything bad about the Zen Sleek. It took me ages to decide which MP3 to go for. I tried a few and wasnt happy then I got the sleek and havent looked back since. I love it!!!
Its so easy to use and the sound quality is good. You definately get your moneys worth. The touch pads can be a little getting used to but I think they are all like that and its still the best key pad I have used.
U can sort your albums into all sorts of folders so that makes it much more user friendly too.
I used it all the time and its my pride and joy. I just need some speakers now so I dont deafen myself with it in my ears all the time.
If u decide to buy I hope you enjoy.
One last thing it looks gorgeous and is very sturdy so no worries on breaking it like certain other makes.
Why a student loves her Zen Creative... - 25 Sep 2006

I got this as a present recently from Amazon and basically now I have it I can't be without it. This little box is indestructable...it has had a glass of whisky spilt all over it, it's fallen off a bus seat and has been dropped from several heights onto a hard floor, and it's only now got a couple of scratches! Basically the perfect student gadget! It's small and fits easily in your pocket, the battery lasts ages, it's great for the gym, the tracks and menus are easy to figure out and navigate, you have many ways of listening to your tracks and many modes! The touch pad is also really useful! Music is easy to download onto the player and easily taken off. I still haven't filled my memmory up and I'm nowhere near it! Only down points are the fact that bands with "The" e.g The Beatles are automatically filed under T and not B, so can be a little annoying! That's the tinyest flaw though! Creative definetly beats i-pods!

I first bought this mp3 player in July and was fully satisfied with the way it worked. I bought it because I'd read all the reviews and I knew it was stylish. I paid the full price of £220.00 but after two months of use it started crashing and as your suppose to do I reset it thinking that most Hard drive mp3s do that occasionally, but the problem was constant and all I could hear was the disk jumping I decided to clear everything and reload the firmware but had no success. Since then I've taken it back and recieved a new one which i'm happy with but now my best friend seems to be having problems with hers. I can only hope that doesn't happen to you but the Zen creative sleek photo is much better then the ipod. (take my word for it!)
