As this is my first MP3 player, I have nothing else to compare it to but I must say that I am reasonably happy so far having used the item for about a week now. The downloading of music is easy and stress free and the sound quality (although with a different set of phones) is excellent. Only gripe is that is has already become obvious that the play time stated in the blurb is very overstated. I estimate 4- 5 hours at most before a recharge is required. This factor along with the average at best headphones supplied mean 3 stars not 5. As to whether it is still functioning in a few months, time will tell!

A great little player - while it lasted. Disappointingly, after roughly five months, it stopped. No power. No response when connected up to my PC or attempting to "Reset".
It may be cheap, but when it doesn't work, it's also useless.

Like many reviewers here I was impressed with the size, appearance and performance of this mp3 player. I bought some fairly decent headphones to go with the Creative Zen Stone and was surprised in a very positive way by how it sounded. At first.
UNFORTUNATELY...
Like several other buyers here, the Creative Zen Stone 1gb mp3 player gave up the ghost in a matter of only a few months. First it skipped between tracks without playing anything and then simply stopped.
I would *not* recommend this item because of its *very* poor reliability and endurance. No matter how inexpensive it might be at the time of purchase, it just doesn't excuse total failure in less than six months of careful use.
Before being swayed by them, ask yourself how many of the positive reviews here might have been written in the first flush of optimism, before the player caved in (but I wish continued good luck to those whose players still work).
PS: I also bought the silicone skin to protect the player and its clip broke on first use without ill-treatment.
(BUT... The Sennheiser HD202 'phones were *exceptionally* good for their very low price)

Never spend my time writing reviews but thought i owed it to the little Zen.
Been putting off the ipod thing because of cost and i only want some upbeat tunes to get me in the zone at the gym.After reading the great reviews on the Zen i thought why not it's not much compared to an ipod, well let me tell you it was some of the wisest money i've spent, how refreshing that a company are making a gadget that doesn't cost the earth and performs like ones that do, my only very slight moan is u may need to upgrade your earphones if your a bass nut.To sum up great looking piece of kit that performs like ones 5 times the price, you won't regret it.

Easy to use, i didnt even use the instructions. it is very small so easy to carry around but buy a case for it so it does not scratch. i love my zen stone!! its great
