I've had the V+ 8GB Zen now for over a year and I still love it. The memory is massive (for the miniscule size of the player) and happily plays WMAs as well as the standard MP3s.
The radio is OK, but reception isn't always fantastic. With regard to the video capabilities, they're really quite good: fine for short video clips but I wouldn't use it to play downloaded TV shows - I tried and it just chews up battery power.
Speaking of which, the battery is excellent. I use it all the time (to/from work, in the gym) and only need to charge it up every 2 or 3 days. The one minus point (and the reason I only gave it 4 stars) is that it doesn't come with an AC adapter. You can charge from the inclued USB cable (connected to a PC or laptop), but your standard USB chargers WILL NOT WORK. You'll need to buy a branded Creative one if you're going to take the Zen on holls with you.
Overall, this is an excellent player and perfect if you're like me and don't want to touch the iPod with the proverbial bargepole.

After about eight months use I feel qualified to write something here about the Zen V+ at last.
It has 8gb which is more than enough space for me. It's not difficult to chop and change your music as you can just plug in and drag and drop your files. It's beautifully small - easy to hide in your palm. It's impressively tough for a little plastic thing. At the press launch of the Zen V+ a Creative employee threw one across a room and it worked fine.. Do a Youtube search for 'Creative vs the wall'. Also, after eight months of being in pockets my player has almost no scratches! More than I can say for friends' iPods.
The menu system is easy to use and customisable. I don't know what other reviewers are talking about when they say you can't jump from the top of your artist list to the bottom, or vice versa - it works fine for me. Just get to the end of the list and press up (or down) one more time.
Before even mentioning the sound quality of the player, allow me to recommend ditching the useless earphones you get in the box. They sound like you're listening to badly recorded music through a wall. You only have to spend £5-10 on replacement earphones (try the Sony MDRE829V) to get sound that's ten times better. I have £20 Sennheiser MX-90s and the difference is like night and day.
When you've got rid of the supplied earphones, sound quality of the player is very good. Probably a little better than an iPod, but not amazing. Very few mp3 players have sound quality that could could be classed as 'amazing', though, so that's not much of a criticism. If you like your bass, you'll probably be disappointed. Compared to my old Sony NW-E107 the bass is lacking, and even if you use the 'Bass Boost' function it's muddy-sounding. On the plus side the sound of the Zen V is clearer in every other respect. I didn't find the preset EQ settings much use for trying to extract more bass out of the player - for example 'Disco' gives you a decent amount of bass, but with the side-effect of muffled treble. 'Rock' amplifies the bass and treble and leaves a quiet, weird-sounding midrange.
My biggest gripe is the battery life. If you listen to high bitrate mp3s, and enable bass boost and smart volume, you get 6 hours max - from a charge of probably 3 hours. I listen every day so I end up having to charge two or three times a week. You can only charge at a computer with a USB cable unless you buy a mains charger.
The screen is too small and too low resolution to seriously bother watching videos on. To transfer videos you have to convert them to a filetype that takes up vast chunks of space, so it's doubly pointless.
There are plenty of other added extras I have no need for like album cover art, a clock, FM radio, voice recording (good for recording lectures?), and 'DJ' functions (most listened to songs etc). It plays music, it does it quite well and that's good enough for me.

I received the Creative Zen V+ as a present, and as my first MP3 player (behind the times, I know!). If you want it short - I'm totally satisfied and would recommend this to anyone buying an MP3 player.
It looks lovely, and is really, really small. The screen is colour, and has a display which gives you all the information you'd need when you're listening. It is reasonably user friendly - the controls are basically intuitive - you have a joystick and a couple of buttons which do everything. The sound quality is excellent. Transferring music on is very easy, and it comes with all the relevant software - you essentially just 'drag and drop'. And don't forget it's made to store pictures and videos as well.
The only warning I would give is have a think about what size you need - 8GB isn't as big as you might expect, and if you've got a big collection of music you might need more size.
Overall though, I would say this is a lovely little MP3 player, which will satisfy almost all your needs!

the creative zen v+ 8gb player is really a good player, yes it freezes as with all mp3 do but it is really good, durable and reliable. i have had mine for over a year and i am very happy with my player.

Well, after my ipod broke, i decided to try something else and saw the creative zen plus. Apart from the huge difference in price between these and ipod, the look of it was so much nicer! Colour screen, video playback and 8gb worth of space! I had to get one and it's lived up to my expectations! I've had mine for about a month now and must say that its well worth every penny! It's so small it's awesome, it fits in the tiny pocket in your jeans and its super light! I can't find a fault on it and would recommend it to anyone, so get buying!
