Time will tell?? - 31 Jul 2007

Luckily I grabbed this at a bargain price. I'm glad I didn't pay over the odds as I would not recommend that you do.

The earphones I found were a pain and do not stay in place for long periods (it may be my ears but who knows!! :0) ) I use my nike ear phones for workouts.

I experienced the screen freezing with the Philips logo for about a minute and a half before it would go onto the music screen. Please note you can go onto the website and they can suggest solutions for problems that they have been told about. I found 'softly resetting' the device, which resets it without losing any of your music was a solution (well for now anyway).

As above, time will tell if this is a permanent solution, but just to let you kno that there is the possibility of resolving the freezin problem. I just hope this doesn't have to be done often.

It is a good device and it does hold all my songs from my computer (over 1000) and it is good for working out, you can choose your selections of songs by genre, artist or song title. I'd give it 7/10 but wouldn't pay the RRP for it.

Well I like it - 18 Jul 2006

I have had it for a few days now and I have to say it is a fairly decent device. I did not want all the video bits and pieces i just wanted a simple MP3 that played tunes and i could take it running. I had a small 256mb thing before which i had to tucked into my shorts so i could listen to some tunes but it had an annoying habit of working itself free. The device does not have many features which I like; but I don't understand why it doesn't have a radio, according to Philips it doesn't work in Europe.

The talking stopwatch is a nice idea and the armband etc is useful as it fits securely around the arm. It is quite light weight so you don't become too conscious that its sat there. The earphones are decent enough they will sit in your ear securely and are so lightweight I didn't rearly notice they were there. The only down side to them is the fact they get a little bit painful if you are doing a big session but thats to be expected. Tracks are easily loaded onto the device in good time and I haven't experienced the freezing yet like the other reviewer so fingers crossed. One last thing though where the hell is the stop button there doesn't seem to be one which is slightly weird.

Anyway if you want a decent MP3 specifically aimed with sport in mind and your want a good amount of memory then i would recommend this device. What really drove this home was when I had to chuckle to myself when I ran past a bloke who was carrying a brick of an MP3 in his hand whilst mine looked a hell of a lot slicker and was probably why I over took him.

Strange but true - 18 Jan 2006

I got this product for my daughter for Christmas. It worked for a couple of weeks and now the sound from it is distorted and sound like the back speakers in a dolby surround system. There's no vocals coming from the centre, and some of the songs play like they're running fast forward. I called the Philips customer service and they agreed that it was probably a hardware fault, but they said that currently they have no procedure for handling faulty devices. His advice was "Call back (on the premium pay number) on Monday and we'll tell you if we've got a process yet". Strange but true.

Could be better - 04 Nov 2005

This player suits my needs as it is easy to use when you are running, at the gym etc - indeed it would be the main reason why people would invest in it.

No complaints about the memory, but two problems: first, the screen sometimes annoyingly freezes, rendering it useless, and only 'wakes up' again after a certain period has elapsed (I hope this doesn't happen on a regular basis). Second, the volume levels seem a bit mean, although I don't know whether this is due to the EU-wide limiter on MP3 players.

All in all, does a job, but should be a lot better
