I don't quite understand what everyone here is raving about! Yes, alright it does have superb sound, although the headphones are cheap, big and make the insides of the ear ache.
Transferring music onto the player is straight forward (if you have loads of time to spend on it), but the manual is extremely poor in explaining how to name your folders and songs so that you can access them once you're off. Despite trying, I have repeatedly ended up with just my songs...no names, no folders...nothing. So I have to go through each song to find the one I want...annoying considering you should be able to transfer 100s of songs.
The player is also sooooo tiny, that I have resorted to using my pinkie to press on the key pad, otherwise, my fingers are hitting at least two keys at the same time (no, I actually have small hands!).
It is however sleek and trendy and has a long listening life so you don't have to charge often.
The cons outweigh the pros to be honest. In hind site, I would have gone for one that came recommended (won't mention any names, but you know the one I mean!) and ones which allows you to download music from websites. Two weeks after I've been using it, about 4 times a week at the gym, I'm bored....and transferring music can take a while (up to about 20 minutes if I want to transfer two or three CDs).
The catalogue suggests that you use Windows Media Player to transfer your songs...absolutely didn't work for me and I've had to download another player to allow me to transfer songs.
The manual is poor for someone who has buys an MP3 player for the first time. It is NOT helpful, lacks information and doesn't offer step by step guidance. My advice: Invest in something a little more expensive, but which doesn't annoy you every time you come to use it....it really isn't worth the hassel!

Great value little player, I've only had it 2 days and I've managed to store 36 full albums in WMA files @ 160 Kbps, which gives excellent results,You could probably double that at a lower bitrate.
The player has a nice detailed sound ,with crisp treble, Vocals sound clear and not to shrill ,and a good midband with very good stereo separation
Best of all though is the detail, just superb. The unit is very well built and doesn't give the impression of cheap junk.
The ear phones that are bundled with it ,are fine , if you feel you need more Bass you can always change them.
This is where a lot of people go wrong ,they always think more Bass better sound ,which I very much doubt, I would go for detail anyday .
Also this player is compatible with Vista for anyone wondering before buying

well i know how your feeling it dosent tell you enough information soooooo....... it has
up to 950songs 1900pictures and 8hours of video availible.
a 1.8 inch screen

the sound quality is allright but you cant change it so that you get the same music out of each ear if u know wat i mean.
it will work perfectly on xp and should work on me or 2000 but be very careful if your computer isunt any of them. u need an 128mb ram a 500mb hard disk space a pentium111 800mhz processer or higher a usb port and you will be fine. the radio frequency goes from 87.5 to 108. the volume can go extreamly load and allthough u dont get the same thrill as a big screen the video quality is fine.
everyone hates installing software but this is simple easy and only took me 2 minutes to install.
allthough the screen isunt perfect quality its pretty good.
u cant load up all files but its fine for most important ones. if u hav problems with it u probly dont hav the right computer. thanx for reading. i am not very good at reviews but i hope thts helped. bye

I bought this for my son to replace his 1st very cheap MP3 which did not support music downloaded from online stores....only to discover that this one doesn't either! Where does it say that in the product description or reviews? Oh yes - in small letters on the back of the box! Not happy! My son loves it tho and won't let me return it even tho it means he can't put the music on that he has already downloaded. Anyone know a way to get around this?!

Like some of the other reviewers, this was my first MP3 player and I have not been disappointed. Mind you, I mostly want it for speech (radio and self-hypnosis material) so my standards probably aren't too high. I have enjoyed playing around with the other facilities such as video and photos but I can't imagine that I would really want to watch a movie or look at photos on a screen 1.5" high by 1" wide.
I might write to Philipps and suggest that they change the instructions though. To switch off it says Long Press (or something similar) but their definition of pressing for a long time is longer than mine. I almost broke the On/Off switch by pressing it too hard in my impatience to switch it off. Otherwise, nice player.
