So good I brought TWO - 15 Jun 2007

I purchased one of these a couple of years ago to take with me when I go abroad and down the Gym. After a few weeks, i realised how good the player was. It is compact, sturdy and good to look at. At first i was disappointed with the low volume level, however a simple "hack" which was selecting an option from the menu (no flashing ROMS etc)enabled the volume limiter to be switched off. The software is easy to use, i prefer to use it in manual mode so i have full control. After i had to perform a format of my PC (nothing to do with the product/software), On re-installation of the software and the backup of my music, it took off from where i had left off. Transfer rates is FAST - a standard album takes approx 20 SECONDS. After about a year, I purchased one for my wife and I am able to transfer files to either player from the same piece of software. Now my son is getting older, I am thinking of buying one for him as well!

I've had one of these now for nearly two years . Recently I had to replace my hard drive . Now the Sonicstage software is unable to find the player and the player refuses to create a database making it unusable . Clearly this software has been designed to stop piracy even at the expense of the user . My advice is to not buy any device that uses sonicstage . The shame is that the player is really good but I'm off to purchase a replacement and start ripping 200+ albums to it . I actually had an E-Mail from them before my hard drive failed but after a reinstall of windows telling me that the music I could no longer play using sonicstage needed to be re-entered ! 200 cds ! Bad enough but what if I had downloaded them ? Buy them all again ? Well I've had a creative mp3 player nearly 3 years now so I shall probably get one of their hard drive models to replace this expensive paperweight .
