Small but easy to use - 05 Dec 2007

Very small and cute with excellent sound quality downloading the videos and pictures was very easy just drag and drop into to it's image converter programme which you can download seperate to Sonic Satge 4.3.
The Sonic stage 4.3 worked fine however I have had issues with sonic stage over the years and if it worries you I was able to download off Sonic stage 3.4 on my partners computer, this is an old machine and I would not risk trying 4.3 as I think this is mainly for Vista operating programmes.
Also I would recommend copying your CDs in MP3 format and converting them to Attrac 48kbs when loading on to the player (this takes a bit more time but gives you more options if in the future you change to another player as you can import into another programe in MP3).
I have bought several different versions of this model now for my family for Christmas presents.
Ace Player - 28 Nov 2007

I decided against an ipod and got this. I have read the reviews on this site and was a bit worried about software problems....BUT WHAT THE HELL is everyone on about the software is easy and quicker then i tunes. A great buy all round
Excellent Player - 05 Jul 2007

I decided not to follow the sheep and buy an i-pod, This video walkman is by far more superior. It's smaller, it looks terrific, sounds fantastic, smaller than the i-pod and plays video (unlike the Nano). The software is fine, i've had no problems, it performs well. The ear phones are terrific (unlike the i-pod). All in all this is a terrific little machine.
Great player, bad software. - 27 Jun 2007

Bought the player and wireless cradle/speakers from Argos. First of all, the player is great and the sound really is amazing, either thru the headphones or the cradle/speakers.
But, and to me its a big but, the SonicWare software is just rubbish. I am really surprised that a company of Sony's size and reputation could put their name to this - its limited in functionality, unintuitive, badly written, pops up error messages for the simplest of issues and Sony's obssession with unauthorised copying stifles any shortcuts or workarounds that you may wish to try. Worse still, it stores tracks imported (burned from CD, etc) as "OpenMG Audio". Good luck converting your playlist across to MP3 or whatever when you purchase another player in a few years time.
Shame as the player itself is ace.
software disaster - 20 Jun 2007

The player was great - the look/feel of the thing , screen , on screen menu , controls.
The installed Spiderman trailer looked great.
Sonicstage software would not run on my PC (which did meet all the requirements) at all. Sony www support was of no real help. This left me with no means of getting music onto the player. Sonicstage is required to get music into a format the player will recognise (atrac ?) , just using media player etc will not work.
In the end I returned the player to look for something which I knew was less likely to encounter software problems - samsung , philips , creative.
