This piece of kit is superb if you listen to the minor gripes of other reviewers you will not buy anything.
Just buy it you will NOT be disappointed (get from Arrrrrgoooooos) as one reviewer said it is better than an IPOD looks the business and backed by Sony and how long have they been in the music business? Longer than APPLE!
Enough said I own it and love it headphones take getting used to but once you have them in it is fantastic Bass, treble and loads of settings if you need to fiddle with them at all excellent with all kinds of music classical to heavy rock superb
My Gripe a case should have been included in the box to put such a fantastic piece of kit in!

This is my first 'Walkman portable' type device which I have bought since my last portable cd player in 1989!!!
I'm not really a person who walks around with music in his ears, but I'm off on holiday to LA and it's an 11 flight.
I bought this because I loved the size, and price £119 from Comet, but found it on the net for £105!!!
The software is a little tedious, but I have downloaded all the cds from my pc which were on media player, and until I read some of the reviews, I had no idea that the quality was changed!! I found the sound quality excellent, although, I did by the 'BOSE' triPortIE headphones at the same time, and haven't tried the Sony headset with it yet.
My only gripe, and I may be stupid, but the bloody thing doesn't seem to have a 'STOP' button? It has play >, pause || but no stop button!
The way I stop a song is to turn it off.
Maybe I am missing something, but I do have two Sony Ericsson phones, one with a Walkman on it, and THAT does have a stop button.
Maybe someone out there can let me know!
Well, that's all folks except if you want something, really slim compact and great sound, buy this.

I have been without an mp3 player for about one month which was awful, but when I chose this mp3 player it was all worthwhile.
When I bought this my only concern was the Sonicstage software- as many people had said how bad it was including the reviewer below me, but thankfully it's great. I don't know what the problem is for other people because my computer is very slow but it coped with sonicstage. If you quickly read the manual putting CD's on the player is very easy.
As for the player itself, the design is brilliant. The player itself is small and sleek but the screen is a good size. I haven't put any videos on yet but I watched the spiderman 3 trailer provided and the quality is top class. Watching the videos lengthways is probably better.
Navigating through songs is easy with the 5 way button and the home menu is familiar to people who had the last Sony model, but why change the good things? You can have any album work for any song which is great. Just choose a picture file saved in your computer.
I have only had this player a day but it has certainly bettered my expectations. No doubt if you are looking for an Ipod Nano alternative this is it, and 4gb is plenty of space considering songs from your CDs go on in ATRAC format which saves alot of space. For this it says the sound quality is less but you really can't tell, the sound is great. Another good feature is being able to import files from Media Player which saves alot of time.
Everything about this mp3 player is superb. My only big concern when buying this was SonicStage, but I have been pleasantly surprised and relieved by it's effiency. I bought this for £125 which is good anyway but Amazon has a cheaper price so buy it now!!!

Hey people, before you buy any of the new Sony NWA MP3 players, make sure its one of the new versions that uses windows media player as the transfer software not the horrible mess that was sonic stage.
Now i think that any sony walkman that has the new media player advantge begins with NWZ instead of the NWA, check www.sony.co.uk to be sure.
Do this otherwise you will be persicuted forever by SonicStage!!!

I've purchased this mp3 player a few days ago and am very impressed with it. My wife has an ipod nano and the sound quality is far better on the Sony even when compressing files to 48kbs. It is very simple to use and I have had no problems at all with the Sonic Stage software.
Note that some people have said that it is not an mp3 player and only plays ATRAC files thus conversion is required. This is incorrect as the unit will play mp3 and wma files without converstion but you still need to use Sonic Stage to transfer them to the player and select this option in Sonic Stage.
I'd highly recommend this player if your looking for an alternative to the ipod.
