I bought this MP3 player. It's brilliant but baterry holds just for 20 hours not for 30 as it's written. But It's still the best Mp3 player in the world!!!!!

This player is excellent. I went through a huge amount of research for a player, took me almost a year. This player is excellent in every way:
1 - the sound quality is just fantastic, honestly it is just so clear.
2 - The earphones are really nice (30 - 40 pound earphons!!), and further expand the sound quality for the walkman
3 - it looks really sexy. I was first sceptical when i was looking at it over the interet, but once it is in your hands its a very different story. The metal surrounding the player gives it a sort of holy aura as it reflects the light you could say.
4 - The user interface is top notch. Very simple to use, and very efficient. Sony have somehow managed to incorporate tactile controls with speedy, effortless song browsing.
5 - for the price it is a bargain. It is an absolutely quality mp4 player for under 100 pounds.

However, all players are not without there problems, and id like to point some of these small errors out:
1 - the hold button is, to be honest, stupidly placed at the back of the mp3 player at the bottom corner. This is pretty annoying at first, but you get over it quickly and you dont think about it eventually :).
2 - accesories. There are no god damn accesories for this player at all. The only decent ones are the clear case by innov8, and the accesories provided by sony themselves.

The good points greatly out-weigh the bad points, and i must say that this player has absolutely nailed everyhting for me. I love it, and am so glad that i am not a sucker to main stream society (ipods). BUY IT!!!!!

iPod get stuffed! This Sony Walkman is bloomin' brilliant! - 30 Mar 2008

I never have, and I never will like iPod's and their lock-in with iTunes.

The iTunes software looks pants, has always given me no end of trouble on Windows XP and Vista, and despite the glowing iTunes reviews you read everywhere, simply isn't as easy to use as Windows Media Player 11. And yes, I've owned an iPod, and used iTunes extensively with my current iPod Nano 1G (I succumbed when my daughter was bought a 3G version and donated the 1G version to me).

I bought this Sony NWZ-A818 the other day, and within 10 minutes of receiving it and removing it from the box, I had transferred over 3GB of MP3s.

It works flawlessly, is simple to use (I didnt even thumb through the manual), and the included headphones are simply the best ear-phones I've ever used.

I downloaded WinAVI DVD Converter Pro (£15), and copied the Transformers movie over to the Walkman. Video quality is impressive to say the least.

Here's my advice - Just buy it - you can't fail to be happy with it.

Despite the tone of my review, I'm a 36 year old gadget geek, so I do know my stuff.

iPod's suck! Walkman rules! Enough said.

Review done. Over and out.

Brilliant little thing! - 28 Mar 2008

I have the NWZ-A816 which is the 4GB version and it's absolutley fantastic. Sound quality is brilliant which you would expect from a Sony. there are a few preset equalizer settings but you can manually adjust any equalizer settings. its very easy and clear to use and has a very sleek and comfortable look to it. my favourite part is the fact that it plays subscription tracks, such as napster which is very good. photo and video quality is fab too, even though i'm not a big fan of watching videos on a 2 inch screen. easy to drag tracks using WMP however, the only problem i have found with it is that i cannot use windows explorer (my computer) to access files etc. but this is probably just a problem with my computer as everyone else seems to fine about this. nevertheless, you can always delete tracks using WMP.
overall a fantastic device and definatley worth the buy at such good value especially if your a napster user.

i've already written one on the 4GB version of this player, but i'm so thrilled with my new toy i decided to express my enthusiasm by reviewing the same product yet again.

music - simply quality. a realy noticable difference between ipods, and this is from a guy new to digital music etc. the music settings are fun to play around with and produce some very interesting sounds.

video - a bit tricky to set up, but once you find a way to get the correct format, it's easy. i now use IMTOO DVD Ripper Platinum to rip DVDs in the right quality, and its amazing. i can get eight hours of video on 2GBs of the player, and it still looks great! i actually find it nice to only have one possible format to rip at (this way i have no others to compare with and i don't have to decide which format works the best).

reliability - sony, you expect the best and you get it.

interface - nice and simple. after using ipod click wheels i can safely say that having simple buttons is definatly the way forward. getting to songs is really easy and shuffle and search functions are easily accessable.

sofware - well, media player is simple and user friendly and drag and drop couldn't be easier. even for a first timer like me its very simple.

battery life - unbelievable, just keeps going.

cons - no on the go playlist creation (no issue for me) - hold button in a bit of a weird place (i don't use it that much anyway) - headphone lead a funny length. oh well, nothing's perfect.

in conclusion, the best player on the market. end of story.

after happily playing with my purchase, i wandered into the new apple store because i like those kinds of shops. of course, i just had to listen to the selection of ipods on display. i listened to the nano and was blown away. the sound quality was sensational, the bass was perfect and the music at perfect clarity. it was only then that i realised that the sample headphones i was listening with were bose, and would probably have cost about £60. nice try apple.
